FAQs....
Can anyone come?
Yes, yes and yes. You are welcome whoever you are. Whether you are a church regular or have never been...baptised, confirmed or not. New people coming and seeing what we are up to always makes us happy.
Will I know what is going on?
Sunday services at St Aidan's follow pretty much the same pattern at every week, so you you will get the hang of it, but there will be people there to help you find your way when you are new. St Columba's services and the midweek services at St Aidan's are pretty informal and again, people will look out for you and make sure that you don't get lost.
What do I have to wear?
Whatever you are comfortable in ... some of us wear jeans, some come super smart (yes, you Brian). Jesus isn't too fussed about clothes- he is much more interested in hearts.
Is there parking?
We have plenty of on-street free parking around both buildings, especially at the back of St Aidan's.
I have children...and sometimes they make noise and don't always behave perfectly...
We love having children in our community and we know they have a lot of energy sometimes. At St Aidan's we have a great children's ministry which happens in the main church space alongside the adult's service, so you will be able to still see them, but you will be able to also have a break and enjoy the service yourself. All our children's ministry team are fully checked and we take safeguarding seriously. Our accredited children's minster always has fantastic activities for them to learn about faith.
What about if I don't feel like a good person?
Come and join the rest of us! We are all just trying to find our way the best we can and life isn't always easy. But Jesus came for people like us so don't hold back.
What about if I find new things or people or noise difficult?
We have a special quiet pew at the back of St AIdan's for people who prefer a bit of quiet or space - just ask the welcomers as you come in. At St Columba's it is a much smaller and quieter space, so that might be a good place to start.
Do you have a social time after the service?
Yes - we serve coffee and biscuits after most services and people like to stay and chat.
